How The New Journey started

The very first episode Satrangi Bhala I watched but without any notice...I was unhappy because the story was not anymore a scary one...Vikraal Lily Gabroo concept could not create any charm in me on the first day.I was watching it in a feeling less way because I was not aware of what is going to happen next...but Action,Romance,Fantasy started to become a kaleidoscope of life...it was the future. So the very first time I just only missed the scary stories and the new concept went over my head.

I told my cousin brother "who is Vikram?I don't know!" (heard the name of Vikraal very wrongly),"what is happening in Star Plus?" "Today I watched something else on TV,this Friday is really boring etc etc."

That was the first reaction I still remember.

After that day what actually happened I really don't know. Unconsciously I fell in love with the Trio ,namely Lily Vikraal Gabroo. But the feeling in my heart made me more creative. How the process started I shall explain here in my blog.

Something I felt within me which pushed me to collect the memory of koi hai. This type of collection wouldn't have been possible without spending money, time and energy.

I was thinking how could I be able to make some collection. First I thought I should take the snaps of the scenes running on TV screen. But how? I didn't have any camera. I asked my cousin brother for his Kodak Camera. He gave his camera for the experiment.I clicked directly at The TV screen. The day I remember,we were watching 'Vikraal aur Zaal' episode. I took the camera and made some flashes. It was a normal Manual camera and I was not sure the thing would work or not!

Next week my cousin took away his camera from me because he was preparing for a trip to Darjeeling,so he needed his camera.

I requested him for one time to keep the camera with me but he denied.

I was disappointed because I had no money to purchase any camera.

After one or two weeks my Grandma's cousin sister Manju Amma ( Manjushree Dasgupta) ,A professor of Psychology, visited India. She was an NRI of America and it was her sudden visit to India. Since childhood I was blessed by her and whenever she paid a visit here she gifted something to me.

This time I was lucky enough to get Rs.500/- cash by her. Immediately I purchased the Kodak KB10 camera which was being sold only of 500/- on Diwali Offer. The time was October ending ,it was Diwali time.

So , after a short struggle I got my own small KB 10. With it I started taking snapshot again.

But this thing proved to be very disappointing again as I washed my negatives at a nearby studio.

The photos were all of the Tv set only ,some were having a glimpse of Lily , Vikraal and Gabroo.
I didn't know what to do? I asked for the reason then One person named Debu Da who worked in our nearby studio (Charu studio) explained me the whole matter.
As I was using the flash gun and the light of my room was remaining switched on,the convex Tv screen could not allow itself properly to be captured.
Debu Da instructed me to switch off the light of the room then capture the still. I did follow him. Then again washed another reel. The stills were black but some were clear.
Observing me very passionate about the matter Debu Da suggested me to purchase one steady camera with Shutter Speed and aperture. He had two old camera. One was of Russian model. My mom sold  two of her Sarees worth Rs 2000/- to her best friend Shampa Mashi and purchased that camera from him worth Rs 4000/- for me.
Then Debu Da taught me how to handle that camera. How to adjust aperture and shutter speed was also taught by him.I made a list of the shutter speeds and aperture to be adjusted at different kind of photography including TV screen.
It was January 2003 ,I started whole hearted photography with LVG. My nobbish hand got more and more matured week after week.Somewhat blurred snapshots became clearer as the days were passing by.
Then I felt somewhat dissatisfied after some weeks. I bought TDK blank cassettes worth Rs 30/- and started recording the audio of the show in my father's cassette to cassette tape recorder.
I was very thankful to God that atleast I was able to capture something to memorize when the show will be no more.
I will share the story How I started video recording of Vikraal series in later posts of this blog.
