 VIKRAAL AND THE GRIM REAPER

Scene-1

It is Spring time ,the festival of Holi is marching rapidly.In Mumbai everyone is busy with making colours ,powders, buying

pichkaris and balloons.Children are very happy.In the markets, there a lot of gulal is being sold.Holi is 3 days ahead.

Vikraal’s office-

Vikraal is sitting on his chair and drinking milk,he is alone in the office.

In the meantime,Lily, Gabroo enters-they have bought pichkaris and colours.

Vikraal-“Welcome to the office dear! Kaha gaye the tum dono?”

Lily-“Sir ,iss saal ham dhum dhaam se Holi manana chahte hai,aap bhi shaamil honge na haamare saath?”

Gabroo-Aare lily, Vikraal ko chhoro, mai hu tumhara Krishna,aur tum ho mera Radha,chalo aaj hi se holi ka khel shuru karte hai.”

Vikraal-“Tum dono ki jodi salamat rahe,aur rang kharid ne market gayi thi? Mujhe thora batakar jati!mai kabse akela batha hu

office me! Kiu Gabroo?”

Lily(in displeasure)-“Sir,aap mere saath Gabroo ki jodi banayenge to mai kabhi, holi nahi khelungi,mujhe aapse shikayat

hai.”She says breathelessly,then stops.Vikraal(haughtily and with a reserved attitude-kaisi shikayat Lily?”takes another sip from the glass of milk.

Lily- “Yehi ki…..”

Gabroo-(suddenly talks louder,Lily stops)”Vikraal,iss baar mai pahela gulal Lily ko lagaunga,iss mamleme tum meri madad

karna."

Vikraal-(smiles ,only a very intellectual smile.)

Lily-“Bilkul nahi sir aap Gabroo ki baato me maat aayo.pahela gulal mai aapki payero pe lagaungi.”

Vikraal-“ Ok dears, aap dono aise hi jhagarte raho,tab tak mai market se kuchh gulal kharid ke lata hu,mujhe bhi iss saal

Holi khelna hai, kiu dosto?”

Lily-(Very happy)”sach me sir ,aap bhi Holi kheloge haamare saath?”

Vikraal-“Nahi ,Kisi aur ke saath…meri wo college ki saheli…..(he smiles).

Lily-(with a sharp grimace)-“Ye saheli kaun hai?”

(with a louder tone).

Vikraal-"Lily …I am serious, iss baar to uss ko mai gulal laga kar hi rahunga!.She is my….

Gabroo(happily)-“lagaao ,lagaao Vikraal,tum usko aur mai Lily ko”.

Thus, the jokes and chaos continues in the office.

Suddenly a letter comes-

VIkraal- “Lily, Lily please collect the letter.”(But she remains angry with the matter of Vikraal’s college 

friend,so, she does not respond,she is irritated).

Vikraal (smiles as usual)-then collects the letter,reads aloud-

“Vikraal,you know me very well,on the day of Holi ,I will come and take you with me.This is the first 

and last chance,So..be

ready,Jitna chaho Holi khello aap ne dosto ke saath,mai tumhe lene aa rahu hu.”

---The Grim Reaper.

Vikraal-(frowns)-“What is this? Ye kaisa mazak hai,Holi ke din koi mujhe iss duniya se le jayega, 

yaani maut ka saya mujh par hai?”

Gabroo-“Aare baapre, aab ye grim reaper kaun huye?”

Vikraal-“ Grim reaper jab aata hai, tab maut saamne khara hota hai,kahete hai , he is the death personified.”

“Yani, Holi ke din mera maut ho jayega?”.(he looks back at Lily).

Lily-(looks very much disturbed)- She snatches the letter from Vikraal’s hand,reads it again very haphazardly.-“Maut , my

foot,mere hote huye aapko koi maut nahi de sakega,chahe aap kisi aur ladki ke saath kitna chahe holi kiu na khel lo.”-says

courageously!

Vikraal-“Hmm, lagta hai kisi ne mere saath mazak kiye honge. Par ye mazak hai ya sach ye to Holi ke din hi pata chalega.”

Lily-(comes forward, stands by Vikraal’s side,now she looks somewhat tensed) “Sir!!!”

Vikraal puts finger on her lips, “Ssshhhh… soch ne do Lily”.

Scene-2

3 Days over-This is the day of Holi,let’s see what happens next.the whole Mumbai city is celebrating the festival of colour.

Vikraal’s office-Vikraal is moving to and fro…seriously.. he is absorbed in thought.

Lily Gulal leke Vikraal ke paas jaati hai aur unke payero pe gulal daalte hai.

Vikraal(aapna haat lily ke sar pe rakhte huye)-“Happy Holi Lily, My blessings will be always with you.”

Vikraal sighs….he takes the colour in hand and smears it on lily’s cheek and forehead.

Lily-(being passionate)-“Sir”.

Aab Lily bhi Vikraal ki maathe par gulal charata hai aur gaal par bhi.

Vikraal smiles-“ yaad hai na Lily? Aaj mujhe koi lene aa raha hai.”

Lily hugs Vikraal( this is the 2nd hug of Lily to Vikraal after the episode Dracula 2)-“mere hote huye bhi?”-her 

voice softer.

Gabroo ye sab dekh ke jal uthta hai…-“Chalo bahat hogaya tum dono ka Romance, aab mere liye bhi to kuchh 

socha karo.” He gets angry.

Vikraal-(releasing himself from lily’s arm)-“daro nahi ,dekhte hai kya hota hai. They look ravishingly bright in 

Red gulal.

Aab lily-Vikraal eksaath Gabroo ko gulal lagate hai.Gabroo is satisfied now.he also puts colour on them-“ Aab 

ja kar mera khayal aaya?”Gabroo leg pulls.

Vikraal-“chinta na kar dost,ye laal rang par bharosa kar,jald hi tera bhi shaadi ho jayega…he laughs…Lily 

catches the ball quickly..she laughs a lot.

Gabroo makes a grimace

Scene-3

The scenario changes.

Ek veeran jayaga, grey smokes are coming out- but the source unknown.the place looks like a hidden hell.-jaha par koi insaan ya janwar dikhai nahi de raha hai.,na koi makaan hai , na koi per,no grass is there on the ground.It looks like a wasteland.A gloomy melancholic air covering a large area, jaha dur dur tak koi nahi hai, 

koi paani ya barish ka naam aur nishaan bhi nahi hai.

After a few seconds the silence of that place is broken.The grave sound of a larger footstep starts approaching 

nearer.But no body is seen still now,As if the sound of thunderbolt has lost its light.Now the sky gets darker,as 

if evening is falling

down.The gloomy atmosphere of that area seems to be ever pervading with a very uncanny sound…

Now imagine this fanfiction your are watching in skh story- the giant feet now becomes visible, a gigantic feet 

is seen on the television screen the feet is pale white without any fingers or nails on it.Someone is slowly 

marching forward,the body

is not seen-only 2 large feet that are not of human- is it grim reaper?The feet now leaves that wasteland and 

gradually enters the area of small green grasses.And that fingerless steps enter a village, next to city of Mumbai, the feet become transparent while rushing thorugh the heavy traffic of Mumbai road , imvisible to every person.

Holi ka din hai, chaaro taraf rang hi rang hai.,but that transparent feet Never gets colourful-colours are spread 

out on the streets and footpaths that are unable to make those feet colourful.

Scene-4

Vikraal’s office again-

Vikraal-“mere mann me itna halchaal kiu hai Lily?Aaj se 3 din pahele jo letter mila tha usse laga tha ki koi mere saath

mazak kiya hai,uss letter ki smell se bhi kuchh pata nahi chala,lekin aaj dil taraf raha hai sach jaan ke liye.”

Lily- “Sir ,Chalo na bahar jaake raaste me bachcho ke saath Holi khele,isse hamara tension halka ho sakta hai.”

Gabroo-“Lily is right,chhoro ye sab tension wali baat,Kam se kam aaj ke liye!”

Vikraal-“tum dono mere sachche dost ho,chalo,bahar raaste me,ha chalo, ruko mai kaapre badal kar aata hu.”

Vikraal goes in his small dressing room and wears a white Punjabi-perfect for holi.

Lily bhi casual dress me aaj hai.She is wearing a red salwar suit,Gabroo is in a small white Punjabi,too.

Vikraal-“Dekh Gabroo ,aaj maine tujhko copy kiya,wo bhi Lily ke liye.

Then the trio laughs heartily.

They come outside on the road,there are many people and children playing Holi.

Now the trio gets completely saturated with colour.Pink,Red,yellow, blue,green.-their happiness creates a fresh air like

morning glory-while enjoying with full heart,suddenly Vikraal catches Lily’s hand,then Gabroo’s.

Vikraal-“ye kya dosto?”He feels a sudden earthquake.

.Lily- “Kya hua sir?”

Vikraal- “Earthquake ho raha hai.”.

Lily-“ kaha sir,Mujhe to kuchh feel nahi hua.”

Gabroo-“Ha Vikraal,tumko dhoka ho raha hai.”

Vikraal-“To phir mujhe chakkar kiu aane laga”

Lily- “Gabroo ye sir ko kya ho gaya?”

Within a moment Vikraal falls down on the ground,being senseless.Lily tries hard to get his sense back,Gabroo sprinkles water on his face,but no response.

The street people makes a crowd to see what has happened.Lily catches a nearby doctor over phone. She tells the truth to him

the crowd helps her and Gabroo in hospitalizing Vikraal.

Lily is determind to get Vikraal back.Gabroo hires a cab (Taxi) and they come to the City hospital.

The doctor diagnoses that Vikraal is in coma.but the reason unknown.his pulse rate is normal, heartbeat normal.

Lily takes a matured step by telling all the truth to doctor as Vikraal is by profession a 

supernaturalist.

Doctor-Miss Lily,I just can tell you that his physical condition is okay,but this sudden attack may cause his brain death.

Lily(boldly asks)-“What should I do now ?”

Doctor-“what is your relation with Vikraal?”

Lily-"I am his assistant and he means everything to me"-(she confesses).

Gabroo-"Doctor...aap kaise bhi ho Vikraal ko bachalo,haam saath saath jine marneki kasam khaaye hai.(he appeals).

Doctor- 24 hours tak haame wait karna parega,phir to pata nahi, shayad bhagwan hi usko bacha sakta hai.

Lily and Gabroo- “we are ready to stay here doctor.”

Vikraal is lying in the hospital cabin.Nurse comes and asks Lily to stay outside the cabin.But Lily denies-“Nurse, please you

leave now. I can take care of my sir..Nurse appreciates her.

The clock is running fast.It is night 12 o’clock .Gabroo is drooping,Lily shakes him up and asks to go to washroom to wash the colours .Gabroo does so.

But Lily is determind not to go anywhere,even washroom. Her eyes are still now on Vikraal.She takes Vikraal’s hand with her-

presses it-out of grief-“Sir,aap wapas kab aayoge?”she faintly asks.

Scene-5

A gloomy wasteland.

Vikraal’s spirit(soul) is taken there by the Grim reaper ,his spirit is standing upright-alone but fearless as usual,the grim reaper is in black dress wth his face covered .

Vikraal-“To bolo Maut,mujhe yaha kiu laaye ho ? kya itni jaldi mera wakt khatam ho gaya?”

The Grim reaper-“ Tumko haam bas 2 sawal puchhenge.”

Vikraal- “May I know the reason?”

The Grim reaper-"isse Ishwar ka aaadesh samajh lo,yadi agar tum 2 sawalo ka jawab de payoge to haam tumhe wapas tumhari duniya me chhor denge.”

Vikraal- “Aur agar nhi de payi to?”

The Grim reaper-“To phir iss adhuri duniya me tumko haamesha ke liye kayed rahena parega.”

Isko Bhagwaan ka ek parikhsha samajh lo.”

Vikraal-(remains silent for a moment.)-“Mai Bhootnashak ka pesha bhi nahi chhor paunga, na to apni dharti…(he visualizes Lily’s face)”uske liye mujhe kya karna parega ?”

The Grim reaper- “To suno mera pahela sawal”-“HONESTY IS THE BEST POLICY”-is this correct?

Vikraal-“ Honesty becomes a policy when the world is full of dishonest people.,But in actuality it should not be called a policy.It is the Law of Karma-to sustain it we must be simple by heart and focused on it.

The Grim reaper- “Dusra Sawal-“Servitude is the the best attitude ,kya ye sahi hai.?"

Vikraal- "No,We are not only the God’s creation or good by heart, agar aisa hota to iss duniya me kabhi Evil nahi hote.And if God is the top creator,then evilness is also a creation of God.He is the Almighty.And we are the instruments of his halfdone cosmic work.But I think we should not be 

an instrument only,and find out our own existence. We sould serve God in 50%

and 50% should we keep for ourselves.100% devotion may lead to an Hollow futility.And attitude should not be our attire,it

should come from heart .Therefore only our consciousness should work.AS Good and Evil goes side by side-and I don’t know what

is waiting for us at last .It is my realization till date.

The Grim reaper –“Agar mai kahu tumhara Jawab galat hai to?”

Vikraal-“To bhi mai maut se ladke is duniya se nikal jaunga,kiu ki mera Karma Abhitak adhura hai.”

The Grim reaper-“Tumhara Karma kab pura hoga?”

Vikraal-“Jab tak iss duniya me bure prêt honge yani ki evilness,tab tak Vikraal ka karma kabhi pura nahi hoga,mai larte hi rahe jaunga.”

The Grim reaper –“Tum iss baar bhi jit gaye Vikraal,aab mai tumhe uss duniya me jaane ki khushi khushi izazat deta hu.”Vikraal-“Par mai jaane se pahele ek baar apne Pitaji se milna chahunga.”

The Grim reaper- “Zarur”.

Now the Reaper disappears and at his place the soul of Vijaykaal appears prominently.

Vikraal- “Pitaji mai Apki Atma ko mukti dena chahta hu,lekin kaise?”

Vijaykaal-Nahi Vikraal,aab mayakaal se badla nahi, tum koshish karo ki Mayakaal se kaise tumhari maa Shantika ki Atma ko chhurwa liya jaaye,Tab tak mai iss duniya me apna karm nibha raha hu.””Aur agar tum aisa kar paayoge to mai aur tumhari maa aur tumhe eksaath kuchh batana chahenge aapne khwaish ke bareme.”

Vikraal-“samajh gaye Pitaji, samajh gaye…his face glows like moonlight.(remember the story of 

"ATEET KA SAYA" fanfiction ).

Scene-6

A special effect….

Vikraal’s soul is released and it gets back to its body.12 hour is over on earth,it is morning now-the day after 

Holi.

In the hospital cabin-Lily is shedding tears on Vikraal’s palm,suddenly his fingers start moving .Vikraal is back to his sense.He looks tired but colourful in white Punjabi.

Lily’s touch gives him immense strength.He is out of coma now.Doctor comes and releases him officially.Nurse offers some medicine to him but he drinks milk only.Then gets down from the bed, with lily 

by his side and Gabroo too.Vikraal looks at Lily to tell something....

Friends ,their story never ends, in reality they are the constant source of peace, bliss, happiness and always will 

be…...

which can relieve our grief,day to day tension and personify the abstractness of supramental forever.
